adam avery o'riley • b. march 24th 1991 • 18 years oldEileen O'Riley was up to her ears in complications after the birth of her first and only son, Adam Avery O'Riley. His father was completely out of the picture, in fact his father had absolutely no idea that he even existed let alone wanted anything to do with him. It was a mistake, Eileen would tell her friends and her family. She never meant to have sex with Brian MacDonald, in fact she wasn't even sure why she did in the first place but it did and both her and her one night stand independently came to the decision that they were both going to forget the evening. She was doing well pretending like it didn't happen, like she didn't lose her virginity to some stranger she had never met before until she realized, seven long weeks later that she was pregnant and there was only one option as to who the father could be. For the first while of her pregnancy she was nothing but a ball of stress, every single thing made her jump, she could barely eat without upsetting her stomach and she was certain that she was going to lose the baby. Part of her was praying that it didn't happen while another part of her had secretly decided that it would be for the best, that if she did lose her child it was the will of God and nothing could stand in it's way. She hated herself for thinking those thoughts and while she was still concerned with how exactly she was going to manage being a mother with being a young adult and living her life she tried everything in her power to keep her child healthy. Three and a half weeks before term, Eileen made her way through the crowded foyer of the closest hospital she could find at the time only to tell the receptionist that she was sure this was it, that her baby was ready to come out and she couldn't bare the pain. She was immediately wheeled to the maternity ward where two and a half hours later she gave birth to her beautiful son. If she hadn't been sure of him before then, she was the moment she saw his new born face. He was hers.
She managed to survive nearly a year with her child under the care of her parents before they started to hint that she needed to get a better paying job, one where she was given more hours and real responsibility. Eileen was actually pretty determined to remain comfortable and continue with the living arrangements as they were. Her mother and father however, were not. They gave her a time limit, told her she had only a few months to get her life together and to get a real job or they were going to attempt to legally adopt her son. She protested but they assured her that no judge was forgiving to a single mother who wouldn't even work to feed her child, a woman who relied on the kindness of people who had no more to offer. She eventually got the message, picked up more shifts at work and just as her parents were finally happy that she was listening and about to give in and allow her to stay with them for as long as she needed assuming she kept her hours at work, she informed them that she and her son were leaving Texas forever and moving to Key West with her boyfriend of four weeks, Pat. Though they wanted to protest, to tell her she wasn't allowed they knew that she was going to do it whether they agreed or not. They kissed their daughter and grandchild goodbye, albeit reluctantly and watched as they drove off into the setting sun.
Dad. That's what Pat wanted to be. He was good enough with both Eileen and Adam, he worked hard and he was always trying his best to impress this woman, the woman of his dreams as he so claimed. At first he kept her attention, bought her nice things, kept her from working and let her have her fun. Eventually she started to get bored with having nothing to do all day, she watched her son for the most part but he was still young and didn't need so much supervision. TV started to get boring, her friends were always working to feed their families and Pat was nearly always at work. She wasn't even shocked when Pat asked her to marry him and despite knowing that she was bored and tiring of his amusing games she agreed to marry him. Within a week they were off to Vegas for a quick ceremony and vacation leaving her son with a sitter. Within seven days they returned and became a family. The family that Pat had always wanted.
• he has never gotten along with his step father, despite the man's longing to be his dad. he's happy being independent and doesn't like the idea of following rule. • in september of 2008, adam made the mistake of not caring enough about getting caught and because of this fault he found himself speeding down the road in a brand new jet black vanquish courtesy of a parking lot in the middle of the city. eventually he crashed into the wall of an elderly care facility where he was escorted to the police station and later put on trial. • on the 19th of september 2008, adam o'riley was placed into a local juvenile detention center until further notice due to his most recent crime and a file filled with past violations with the law including vandalism and shop lifting. • nearing his 18th birthday, adam's case was placed back on trial to decide whether it was acceptable that he was taken out of care and let back into society or whether he would be joining his fellow legal adults in prison to finish out his sentence. as far as his judge was concerned the latter wasn't at option, she let him off the hook with hours upon hours of community service and a warning. • though he is in his senior year he's not sure he'll be able to graduate with his fellow students due to being only slightly behind in the curriculum. • his mother currently refuses to speak even a word to him. • he's not a complete dumbass. he might not have the greatest grades in school but when he's not tormenting anyone or breaking some kind of law he's usually stuck in his bedroom reading. he doesn't like to talk about it.
